Dear Eastside Union Staff and Families,

As we welcome the month of May, we also enter one of the most important and rewarding stretches of our school year. This is a time when the hard work, growth, and dedication of our students, staff, and families truly shine.
To our students: you have come so far this year. May is your opportunity to demonstrate what you’ve learned, especially as our 3rd through 8th grade students prepare for upcoming spring testing. These assessments are just one way to show your progress—approach them with confidence, do your best, and remember that your effort matters more than perfection.

To our educators and staff: thank you for your unwavering commitment, care, and professionalism. The support you provide each day creates the foundation for student success. Your work during this final stretch—encouraging, guiding, and inspiring—makes all the difference.

To our families: your partnership is essential. Thank you for supporting your children, ensuring they are prepared, rested, and encouraged during testing and throughout the end of the year. Together, we help our students succeed.
As we move through May, let’s stay focused on finishing the year strong. Everyday counts—academically, socially, and emotionally. Let’s continue to lift one another up, celebrate achievements, and maintain a positive momentum in our district.

Dear Eastside USD Community,

As we welcome the month of April, I am reminded of the sense of renewal this season brings. Spring is a time of growth, energy, and fresh possibilities—both in nature and in our schools. I hope each of you enjoyed a restful break and are returning with excitement for all that lies ahead in the final stretch of our school year.

Over the coming weeks, our students will be engaging in state assessments. These assessments are an opportunity for us to highlight the learning, resilience, and progress our students have shown throughout the year. I want to thank our families for the partnership you provide at home—your encouragement, routines, and positivity make a meaningful difference. I also extend my appreciation to our teachers and staff for the thoughtful preparation and unwavering support they give our students each day.

As we enter this busy season, I want to emphasize the importance of strong attendance. Being present—every day and on time—helps our students stay confident, connected, and ready for success. Together, we can ensure our students finish the year with pride and momentum.

Finally, April also brings many opportunities to celebrate. From student showcases to cultural events, performances, and recognitions, this is a wonderful time to honor the talents and accomplishments of our school and district community. I look forward to seeing many of you at these events as we celebrate the achievements that make our district shine.

Dear Families,

As we welcome the month of March, we look forward to the many meaningful opportunities for learning, growth, and celebration across our district.

The first week of March, we will celebrate Read Across America Week, a wonderful reminder of the power of literacy. Reading opens doors to imagination, knowledge, and opportunity. Our schools will host special events, guest readers, and themed activities to promote a love of reading. We encourage you to join us by setting aside time to read together at home—whether it’s a favorite bedtime story, a new chapter book, or an article that sparks curiosity.

March is also Women’s History Month, a time to honor the achievements, leadership, and contributions of women throughout history and in our own community. We look forward to having students engage in activities and lessons that highlight inspiring women who have shaped our world in science, education, government, the arts, and beyond. We are proud to support learning experiences that encourage all students to see themselves as future leaders and changemakers.

In addition, March is National Nutrition Month, which focuses on the importance of making informed food choices and developing healthy eating habits. Our child nutrition team and health educators will be sharing resources and lessons to help students understand how nutrition supports learning, energy, and overall well-being. Small, healthy choices each day can make a big difference.

Dear Families,

Welcome to February!

As we welcome the month of February, I want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate several meaningful observances that invite us to reflect on our shared values, our history, and our connections to one another.

This month, we celebrated the 100th Day of School! Students celebrated their achievements in attendance and academics and we are proud of the gains that we are making in each of those areas.

February is Black History Month, a time to honor the achievements, resilience, and lasting contributions of Black Americans who have shaped our nation and continue to inspire progress and excellence. Throughout the month, our schools will engage in learning experiences that uplift voices, stories, and accomplishments that are essential to understanding our collective history.

This month also includes Presidents’ Day, which provides an opportunity to reflect on leadership, civic responsibility, and the principles that guide our democracy. It is a time to consider how leadership—past and present—can inspire service, integrity, and a commitment to the common good.

Finally, Valentine’s Day reminds us of the importance of kindness, compassion, and appreciation for one another. Whether through small gestures or meaningful actions, this is a wonderful time to reinforce the values of respect and care that strengthen our school community every day.

February encourages us to learn, to reflect, and to connect. Thank you for all you do to make our district an inclusive, and supportive place for every student.
