Board Member, Mr. Wayne Kalliomaa

Term of Office: February 4, 2026, through December 2026

Wayne Kalliomaa is the son of an Army officer and has lived and attended school in numerous places throughout the United States and Germany.  Wayne attended Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona.  He graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1988 with a degree in Engineering Physics.  He moved to the Antelope Valley in 1989 when he started working for the Air Force Research Laboratory at Edwards AFB.   He retired from there in 2024 after a 35-year career.  During his career, he would test fire experimental rocket engines and motors, become a supervisor, manage rocket test facilities, manage a chemical laboratory, and manage research to improve rocket propellants.

Wayne is married and has 2 daughters, both of whom attended Columbia Elementary and graduated as valedictorians from Eastside High School.  The eldest has graduated from University of California, Los Angeles and is pursuing her doctorate at University of Southern California.  The youngest is obtaining her degree at California State University, Bakersfield.

Mr. Kalliomaa believes in the power of education to create a better and more prosperous society.  He is focused on providing a safe environment where students can learn and teachers and students have the resources they need.
