A Message from the Superintendent: October 2025

Greeting Eastside Union Families, Staff, and Community,
Dr. Fullwood

As we welcome the month of October, I want to thank each of you for the energy, commitment, and collaboration you've brought to the s
chool yea
r so far. The fall season brings with it many exciting opportunities for learning, connection, and celebration across our schools.

Attendance Matters
October is a great time to remind everyone of the importance of regular school attendance. Being in class every day helps students stay engaged, build strong relationships with peers and staff, and reach their academic goals. Please partner with us in reinforcing strong attendance habits at home—every day in school truly makes a difference!

Celebrations and Events
October is also a month full of celebration across our schools. From Hispanic Heritage Month to school spirit weeks, fall festivals, and classroom projects, we’re proud to see our students and staff engaged in meaningful activities that highlight culture, creativity, and community.
We encourage families to participate and stay connected with your child’s school through newsletters, school events, and parent-teacher conferences.

Week of the School Administrator – October 12-18, 2025
This month, we also recognize and honor our school leaders during the Week of the School Administrator. Our principals and site leaders work tirelessly to create safe, supportive, and effective learning environments for all students. Please take a moment to thank your school administrators for the critical role they play in making our schools strong and successful.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and schools. Together, we’re building a culture of excellence, equity, and engagement across our district.

Wishing you a safe, productive, and inspiring October.

Warm regards,
Dr. Jezelle Fullwood
Superintendent

District Highlights
Hispanic Heritage Month

EUSD Hosts 4th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

On Friday, October 3, EUSD held its annual Family Fun Day celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. This year, the event took place at Enterprise Elementary School. More than 400 parents and students joined the celebration, which featured performances by Enterprise Elementary’s music class and dance team, Tierra Bonita’s kindergarten class, the Storm Family, and LA Care’s Folklórico group.

Community partners supported the event by providing resources and engaging activities for families, including cultural games and crafts. The Child Nutrition Department provided the evening meal, and families enjoyed time together through music, performances, and community connection.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration possible and to all the families and community members who joined us in honoring culture and community across EUSD.

Board and Superintendent Visit School Sites

EUSD Board members and Superintendent Dr. Jezelle Fullwood visited Eastside Elementary and Cole Middle School on Tuesday, September 30, as part of the district’s Board Member Bus Tour. Principals shared campus highlights as the group toured facilities, viewed current projects, visited classrooms, and discussed ongoing efforts to enhance learning environments for students.

Pictured with Dr. Fullwood are three of our Board members: Board President Mrs. Julie A. Bookman, Board Clerk Ms. Doretta Thompson, and Board Member Mr. Joseph Pincetich, along with the driver who supported the tour.
