Dear Eastside Union School District Community,
As we wrap up another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you—students, families, teachers, staff, and community members—for your dedication, resilience, and partnership.
This year has been filled with learning, growth, and countless moments of inspiration. Together, we’ve celebrated achievements, faced challenges with courage, and continued to build a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
As summer begins, I encourage everyone to take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the season. Whether you're traveling, spending time with family, reading a good book, or simply enjoying the sunshine, may your summer be filled with joy, laughter, and well-deserved relaxation.
Wishing you all a safe, happy, and rejuvenating summer break. We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall, refreshed and ready for another great year!
I continue to be honored and humbled to serve as your superintendent!
With gratitude and warm wishes,
Dr. Jezelle Fullwood

District leaders and Board members were present to acknowledge the students and share in the moment as they prepare to move on to high school.

EUSD hosted its annual Community Appreciation Breakfast on May 31, bringing families, staff, and community members together to recognize those who have gone above and beyond in support of our schools.
The celebration began by honoring parents from across the district who consistently participated in school events, supported campus activities, and remained actively involved throughout the year. Each was presented with a certificate of appreciation as a thank-you for their continued involvement.
Next, district-level recognitions were given to parents serving on committees such as DELAC and AAAC. These families take on leadership roles and provide important feedback to help shape district initiatives.
EUSD also recognized key community partners whose collaboration strengthens districtwide efforts. Organizations such as Project Joy, AVPH, and Rescue Mission Alliance were thanked for their work in providing student presentations, hosting wellness activities, and supporting family events and food distributions throughout the year.
To close the ceremony, one standout parent volunteer from each school site was awarded the "Golden Apple," a special recognition for those whose service and commitment have made a meaningful impact on their school community.
Raffle prizes were given out throughout the morning, adding an extra sense of fun and appreciation. EUSD is thankful to everyone who continues to support our schools, students, and families. Congratulations to all who were recognized!

EUSD held its annual End of the Year Staff Recognition Ceremony on May 30, honoring the incredible commitment and service of staff across the district. Employees marking 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 35 years of service were recognized, along with this year’s retirees.
The celebration opened with energetic performances by the Cole Middle School cheer team and band. Dr. Fullwood, alongside district administrators, led the recognitions, highlighting the lasting impact of dedicated educators and support staff.
After the ceremony, employees were treated to dinner and a district-wide raffle featuring a variety of exciting prizes. All raffle items were generously donated by local businesses and educational partners, showing just how valued our staff are by the broader community.
EUSD extends its deepest thanks to every staff member for their continued commitment to students and families. We are proud to honor those who make a difference every day in the lives of our students.

Students from across EUSD participated in this year’s Battle of the Books, a reading-based academic competition that promotes teamwork, critical thinking, and a love of reading. Students formed teams, read from a designated list of books, and answered detailed questions to test their knowledge and understanding.
After competitions at each of our schools earlier in May, top-performing teams advanced to the Regional Battle of the Books, which brought together schools from across the Antelope Valley. The regional event was held on Saturday, May 31 at Parkview Educational Complex in Lancaster.
Gifford C. Cole Middle School’s team, "The Glassiers," earned a win at the regional level. Congratulations to the team on this outstanding achievement.
We’re proud of all the students who participated and represented EUSD with dedication and teamwork!

Students in the Special Day Classes (SDC) at Tierra Bonita and Enterprise Elementary took part in a hands-on cooking program designed to build everyday life skills. The program was a collaborative effort led by classroom teachers, instructional aides, speech pathologists, and the district's occupational therapist, Dr. Peg.
The experience began with students earning classroom play money by completing academic and structured activities. They used this currency to “pay” for classroom experiences like the cooking activity, giving them a fun and meaningful way to learn the value of money, budgeting, and saving.
Students were given a choice of what to cook and voted as a group before getting started. With adult support, they created grocery lists, talked about ingredients and quantities, and practiced shopping during classroom speech sessions. Once ingredients were “purchased,” students worked together to prepare simple recipes like s’mores and cheese quesadillas.
Every step of the process, from organizing ingredients and reviewing the recipe to cooking and clean-up, was used as an opportunity to practice communication, teamwork, responsibility, and independence.
EUSD is proud to support programs that help students apply classroom learning to real-life situations in a way that is practical, engaging, and fun.

In May, EUSD Child Nutrition hosted two free Farmer’s Market events to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to the community. Held on May 16 and May 29 at the District Office, each market welcomed over 300 families.
The events featured a rotating selection of seasonal produce, including apples, cherries, mandarins, onions, avocados, and potatoes.
These markets are part of EUSD’s ongoing effort to support student and family wellness through access to nutritious food. Thank you to the EUSD Child Nutrition team for making these events possible and to all the families who participated.

EUSD proudly celebrated nearly 70 students who were reclassified as Fluent English Proficient this school year. To honor this important achievement, the district held a Reclassification Ceremony recognizing the hard work and progress of students across all grade levels and school sites.
Families attended the event to celebrate alongside their students as they were recognized for meeting reclassification criteria and showing continued academic growth.
Congratulations to all reclassified students on this well-deserved milestone.

A new privacy fence for Tierra Bonita Elementary School has officially been approved and is scheduled for installation in June. This improvement addresses a concern raised during the March 21st Parent University, where a parent shared privacy and safety concerns regarding the shared fence line between Tierra Bonita Park and the school.
In response, Superintendent Dr. Fullwood acknowledged the concern, committed to reviewing the situation, and emphasized her willingness to act. Less than three weeks later, the District secured a vendor quote for the project and brought it forward for Board approval. The project was approved and is now moving into the installation phase.
This project reflects how family feedback helps inform district decisions. EUSD values open communication and remains committed to addressing concerns that impact the safety and well-being of students.

The 2024–2025 school year wrapped up this week, and EUSD schools marked the occasion with fun activities and celebrations. At Enterprise Elementary, students ended the year on a colorful note with a Color Run, complete with water fun and a final performance by the school’s dance team.
All campuses joined in the end-of-year spirit, celebrating student effort and growth with school-led events and activities.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this school year a memorable one. We hope you're enjoying the start of summer, and we can’t wait to welcome you back in August!

As we transition into summer break, EUSD encourages families to prioritize routines, connection, and well-being at home. Here are a few reminders to support a healthy and safe summer:
- Keep a Routine: Help children adjust to summer by establishing daily habits like regular sleep, family meals, and time for reading or outdoor play.
- Encourage Social Connection: Plan outings or check-ins with friends to prevent isolation.
- Talk Openly: Check in regularly with your child about how they’re feeling. Create space to discuss stress, emotions, or substance use.
- Practice Daily Reflection: Try asking, “What was the high and low of your day?” or “What are you grateful for today?”
- Unplug Together: Take tech breaks as a family and focus on shared activities.
